The Regiment has the privilege of being entrusted with light infantry capability, including parachute, complex terrain, and reconnaissance capabilities. In addition to providing soldiers for missions overseas, the unit is well-equipped to respond to natural disasters on domestic soil. Historically, the horns (bugles) have the place of honour in a Rifle Regiment. This arises from the necessity that orders were given to the widely dispersed scouts and skirmishers by this medium. Throughout the long history of the Regiment, the Band and Bugles have played well and fought well.
